Aaron was in the backyard with his pump BB gun shooting at random things. In looking for other things to shoot at, Aaron glanced back at the house and saw the sparkling glass sliding door. Beckoning him.
He thought: Hmmm...I wonder if from this distance the BB will bounce off the glass. I think so. There's no way the BB could shatter that glass. Why don't I try?
So then, Aaron shot. After he aimed perfectly, he watched the BB fly over the basketball court, across the lawn, above the back deck/porch, and straight towards the door.
Just before it hit, he had a sickening thought in his head. What if the glass actually does shatter?
He froze for a split second, but it seemed like fifteen seconds. He took that short time to consider what he would do if it actually did break.
And then.
CRASH!!!
The glass splintered into a whole bunch of little pieces. A few of them fell onto the ground. Completely broken.
Aaron had to devise a plan quick so he could avoid the rough punishment he would surely receive if he got caught. Dad can't remember what he did with that cursed gun, but he rushed to the dog run on the side of the house, jumped up on the fence, hopped onto the brick wall and made it to the roof. It would be his hiding place. The hiding place from his Mom.
No one knows how long he was up there, but he finally realized it wouldn't be realistic to stay up there much longer. He'd have to confess at some point, so why not now? Remaining there wasn't doing him much good, anyway.
After pondering these ideas, Aaron climbed off the roof like Spiderman and talked to his mom and brother, completely embarassed. Corey made fun of him a bit, but his Mom realized his humiliation was punishment enough.
That's all my dad remembers. But it's still a good story, yeah?
Time Spent: 20 min
